Are you ready? To set up the consultation, push this button: |
| How does it work? | |
| 1. You pay for the Consultation by Visa or Mastercard 2. Ken sends you an e-mail with instructions 3. Ken contacts you to set up a time and paper exchange 4. You fax and/or e-mail the papers he needs to read, and 5. Ken calls you toll-free at the appointed time for the consultation. You are strongly advised to take notes or record it, because there will be a lot more than you could possibly remember. For those who are already set up for it, the consultation can be an audioconference [VOIP] or videoconference, using Skype, MS Messenger, or similar program. Mention that you want this, in the Message portion of the credit card purchase form, and identify your preferred program. |
It's that easy! You don't have to drive into a city law office, pay for parking, or even the phone call. Better still, it can be done during the early evening hours and weekends, so you don't have to miss work!
What If I need More Help?
It's best to start with the consultation so you have a game plan. If you then decide that you want more, you can arrange that, as well, for additional fees. For example, you might want Ken to draft papers for you that will get you more time, write a letter, help you force the landlord to reveal information, or counter-sue the landlord. Ken does not make appearances in Court, any more, staying busy enough operating this website and helping the tenants who contact him. However, Ken can help you pick a lawyer from the list on this website.
Can I make the Landlord pay for my legal fees?
Yes! If you win your case, and either your rental agreement or a statute authorizes an award of attorney fees to the winner, the judge can order your landlord to reimburse your attorney fees paid for these consultations and other services. That is true, even if the attorney isn't officially in your case as "counsel of record," but only helping in the background, advising, researching and drafting papers for you. [Mix v. Tumanjan Development Corp. (2002, 2d) 102 Cal.App.4th 1318]
